Uhoda
Group

Uhoda Group is a Belgian family business from Liège that Stéphan Uhoda took over in the 1970s and significantly expanded.

Stéphan Uhoda’s appreciation for contemporary creation developed early on: together with his brother Georges, who was immersed in the contemporary art scene from a young age, they first decided to invigorate the local contemporary art scene. Their activities as collectors and their financial support for culture in general (theater, opera, jazz festivals) came naturally but gradually, as the growth of Uhoda Group enabled more financial investment in these areas.

From the beginning, there was a desire to share this passion and create connections; first with their teams and then with the outside world. This is how the group embraced in situ art, bringing it outside their spaces: “We wanted to break down the barriers of contemporary art, making it freely accessible to as many people as possible and sparking debate. This philosophy is evident in our recent projects with Daniel Buren at the Guillemins Station in Liège, where his work interacts with the new station architecture by Santiago Calatrava, and with Laurent Perbos in Paris.”
