When a goddess or a god plays a sport, is there a high chance for the gesture to be perfect? This question challenges the notion of perfection. Sport becomes a field of exploration of limits and possibilities, where perfection is not an end in itself, but a starting point for a new artistic expression. My practice draws from popular references to create a connection between the artwork and the audience. I consider "art as a state of encounter."

In the series of works related to sports, I repurpose existing games like ping-pong tables or footballs, altering their codes. The spectator is confronted with seemingly well-defined games that break their rules and offer a reflection on failure, success, competitiveness, and work. These transformations invite a rethinking of the nature of play and sport.

Laurent Perbos lives and works in Marseille and Paris. In the tradition of assemblage, his works question how the ordinary, revisited, becomes a narrative rather than an image. Objects undergo a formal and philosophical metamorphosis, creating ambivalent works that are both mental and visual. By using existing objects, the artist blends the real and the marvelous, with references to myth and fable.
